New School Crest

In addition to totally reorganising the school library, teaching, and music lessons; one of the projects I set out to do this week was to redesign the school crest. It was in desperate need of revitalization. So after lots of work and tweaks, I present to you the new crest for Tsintsabis Combined School. I dare say they might have the best looking crest in the whole country. If you want to see the original, click and it will be posted after the jump.

The crest is supposed to roughly emulate a stained-glass window to represent how religion plays a part in the everyday life of the school. The book represents education, the sun represents country, and the tree represents the tribe that the people of the community comes from as they used to sleep in the trees. I changed the tree to be a sapling to represent the students as they are only just beginning to grow, and will hopefully one day be strong trees.

Hello There. Whether you meant to get here or not you have somehow managed to find my blog. This isn’t any old blog, you know. This is my attempt to document my time spent serving with the Peace Corps as an education volunteer in Namibia. There will be good stories, photos, and perhaps a short movie or two.
